“Daddio” is a 2024 American drama film directed by Christy Hall, starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn. The movie takes place entirely within the confines of a yellow cab making its way from JFK Airport back into Manhattan. The drive, which normally takes around 50 minutes without traffic, becomes an unexpected opportunity for connection as the two characters, the driver Clark (played by Sean Penn) and his passenger known only as Girlie (played by Dakota Johnson), engage in conversation. Their faces fill the screen in extreme close-up, and the dialogue compels you to listen.
